WHO
WE ARE

DEAR CITIZENS OF GALVESTON,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce Forward Galveston Committee and to explain how important your vote is for ensuring our great city is prosperous and benefits YOU, the citizens.

Although the entire contents of this literature are meaningful and educational, these are the critical areas to be highlighted.

Dear Citizens
  • A Galveston that works for Galvestonians and not just people motivated by personal gain in our local politics.

  • We address critical issues such as free parking for Galveston residents.

  • Constructing and executing plans to attract more amenities and developers (such as an HEB) for our city to thrive and support our local economy as well as to accommodate tourism.

  • To secure housing that our hardworking citizens can afford.

  • Develop conditions for a business climate that attracts technology startups and promotes remote work for our citizens.

  • We will additionally address a better use of community spaces that will include, however not be limited to, parks, roads, and bike lanes.

  • Galveston Forward Committee represents the voters and will only support candidates, including city council and mayor positions, that support positive change for our citizens and will not receive our endorsement without a written commitment which will be published on the Galveston Forward Committee’s website and subject to our voter base approval.

  • We support ensuring tourism taxes are invested in Galveston and actually benefit our small business owners and our citizens.

  • We will focus on developing and maintaining an improved and functional public transit network.

  • This committee will actively work with local government on infrastructure and construction contracts that benefit the city and not its politicians’ personal interests.

  • Eliminating unnecessary positions that currently cost the city and its taxpayers great expense without benefit to our citizens.

WHO WE ARE

GALVESTON FORWARD COMMITTEE...

IS COMPRISED OF COMMITTED, RESPECTABLE CITIZENS, NOT POLITICIANS, CONCERNED BY THE CONTINUING LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY IN OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND THE GOOD OL’ BOY SYSTEM WHICH HAS NOT WORKED FOR ITS CITIZENS SO FAR (HISTORICALLY). DID YOU KNOW THAT THE CURRENT CITY BUDGET IS 250 MILLION DOLLARS WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY $4,800 PER CITIZEN AND INCLUDES TAXES, REVENUES, AND DEBTS? THIS COMMITTEE BELIEVES THAT THE CITIZENS SHOULD HAVE A SAY IN HOW THIS MONEY IS INVESTED.

THE AVERAGE CITIZEN

IS NOT AWARE THAT 2,700 COMMITTEE VOTES IS ALL WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR LOCAL POLITICS AND ENDORSE ONLY CANDIDATES, WHICH INCLUDES CITY COUNCIL AND THE MAYOR, WHO SUPPORT THE CHANGES THAT ARE PROPOSED BY THIS COMMITTEE WHICH ACTUALLY BENEFITS THE CITIZENS. THE COMMITTEE DOES NOT REPRESENT ANY SPECIFIC CANDIDATE.WE ARE STRICTLY AN ADVOCACY GROUP REPRESENTING OUR VALUABLE CITIZENS THAT SUPPORT POSITIVE CHANGE.
